About Us

For over 35 years, Allyson Lawless and Associates have developed and supplied structural engineering software solutions ranging from basic design modules to sophisticated finite element analysis. Incorporating analysis, design, detailing and drafting, modules can be selected to address a wide range of structures from the simplest to the most complex.

The Beginnings

From the first frame programme, written in HP Basic in 1979 on a 32 kb RAM computer which accommodated 60 nodes and 115 members our structural software offerings have come a long way! The range was expanded to include continuous beams, footings, retaining walls and more. The frame programme was re-written with the arrival of the personal computer and relaunched as StructurAlly. This was widely used in Southern Africa until the pressure to move to Windows led the company to team up with Civil and Structural Computer Services Limited and share our local modules for inclusion into the MasterSeries range of structural software.

MasterSeries

Since 1994 we have supplied and supported the full range of MasterSeries analysis, design, detailing and drafting modules and kept the development team abreast of changes in local codes and standards. Users range from consulting engineers to structural steel and formwork designers, mining and industrial companies and many public sector departments.

Strand7

Demand for more complex finite element solutions led us to team up with Strand7 in Australia to make their comprehensive yet intuitive and easy to use finite element package available on the local market. Users range from aeronautical, marine and mechanical engineers, to consulting engineers and structural steel designers. The software is also used for many unusual ‘structures’ such as the human frame, musical instruments and many more!

Software sales, training and support

Local support provides access to on-demand technical assistance from structural and mechanical engineering practitioners, the latest updates and exclusive training in Southern Africa. Join the growing international user-base to address your structural engineering needs.
